Zero Punctuation - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
>> ^Abel_Prisc:
I understand I am of the minority with this perspective, but I just couldn't be happier with how the PC version is.

dannym3141 is right. Almost all of your complaints can be easily avoided by filtering the server lists and keeping track of favorite servers. What terrible excuses for justifying the removal of dedicated servers.

And complaining about custom maps is just about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Yes there are some godawful ones out there, but some of the best content in PC gaming are fan made. Modding games have been an integral part of PC gaming since before DOOM 1. Some of the best maps, and even games themselves come from the community. Just look at CS, DOTA, and all those great community TF2 maps that were later made official by Valve. You say you've been a PC gamer for a long time, but your attitude reveals that you are surprisingly ignorant of the PC gaming scene.

Time Traveling Delorean Mod!
What happens if you travel back in time and killed yourself from a moment ago, thus preventing you from traveling back in time to kill yourself in the first place? Somebody try that please.

Loved that part about Catcher in the Rye. Maybe it's time to start watching this show again.

Cancer Breakthrough. Believe It.
>> ^Truckchase:
In reply to this comment by mentality:

Look, if you can't derive happiness from even two strains of cancer cells being selectively killed off, (without proof of it not working on others) I suspect there is little to derive happiness from. Let's be enthusiastic about this eh?

Look, it's not 2 "strains" of cancer. You don't "catch" these particular "strains" of cancer from someone else like you do with bacteria or viruses. Everyone's cancer is unique to that individual. It's unlikely that someone with breast cancer will have the SAME EXACT mutations as those that spawned the specific cell lines used in the experiment. Plus, No one knows how well these immortal cell lines, grown for generations in petri dishes, correlate with the original cancer in a person. And all they've done so far are some mouse experiments. It's still FAR away and a shitton of money and work required before it can work in people, maaybe. Don't hold your breath.

And again, if this was something to get enthusiastic about, it wouldn't be in the journal "Breast Cancer Research".

Cancer Breakthrough. Believe It.
First of all, this has only worked on 2 breast cancer cell lines, meaning that it only works for the clones of the cells derived from 2 specific individuals, in an artificial laboratory setting. Will this work in people, and can it be adapted to the myriad of different mutations that cause breast cancer, nobody knows. The paper concludes that they have "outline[d] a new therapeutic approach", which means just that: they have taken the first baby steps towards something that might work, after many, many years and billions and billions of dollars of research..... maybe.

Anyways, nothing to get excited about. If this was a huge Nobel winning breakthrough, it wouldn't have been published in a journal as small as Breast Cancer Research.

Curb is by far the funniest comedy on tv at the moment. I feel sorry for all the fans of boil-in-the-bag, insert-joke-here comedy fans that can't understand it. I'm sure another rerun of friends will be on a channel soon.

Prank War 8: The Skydiving Prank
>> ^robbersdog49:
I think these guys have been great, but they just crossed a line. Really not sure how to describe it, but I think really convincing someone they're going to die, that's a line right there.

Dude, they've both crossed the line like 4 episodes ago. The latest 2 pranks are not bad compared to the shit they pulled before.

Zero Punctuation: Uncharted 2 Among Thieves
>> ^yellowc:
Uncharted 2 is the best game I've played in many many years, sure it doesn't bring a lot of new concepts to gaming but what it does do, it does so well, that it could almost be called revolutionary against the tidal wave of shit we otherwise receive.

And I don't think it's particular easy for games to look this good, the amount of detail in Uncharted 2 is staggering and it has some of the best animation and voice acting I've ever seen hands down, never noticed his bug eye comment, I thought the characters showed a tonne of emotion. What are essentially fully playable cinematics are also both technically and graphically amazing, the set pieces in Uncharted 2 are like nothing I've seen in any game. I did not want to put this game down at any point, it is entirely engaging start to finish and for me, I LOVE the fact that it bases its story on ancient legends, that's one of the best parts!

So what you're saying is that the game has good graphics and plays well, which is no different from what Yahtzee says. Some people expect more from a "great" game than good looks and technical excellence. You know, something like originality. And it's hypocritical that you diss on MW2, which is also filled with graphical and technical excellence, just not in your preferred style.

Awesome way to eat a chicken wing: de-bone it first!
>> ^sme4r:
Yeah, I get harassed by people who suck the shit out of their chicken wings. According to them, I never "Get all the meat." It's disgusting. He was so proud that he eats the cartilage, fuckin' gross.

You think cartilage is disgusting? WTF is wrong with you?
Cartilage is made from collagen, which is found in the very meat you're eating. And guess what gelatin is made from? You might as well call everything from gummy bears, yogurt, to cream cheese disgusting.
Such a prissy attitude; You're like a 5 year old.

Richard Dawkins: One Fact to Refute Creationism
>> ^ctrlaltbleach:
I did not however stoop to harsh words about a whole mass of people that live on the earth today. ISaying a whole group of people is a disgrace because they chose to believe there might be life after death is a little much. To me thats like saying you should be ashamed for being human.

Oh yeah? You just said "people who are not tolerant are like animals and less evolved."

Calling Dawkins and others who think like him an animal, that's not stooping to harsh words about a whole mass of people? < /Facepalm >

Richard Dawkins: One Fact to Refute Creationism
>> ^ctrlaltbleach:
Again the only thing I dont like about this guy is that he is very rude. Does he have to say disgrace that kind of talk will lead us down a road the human race has been to over and over and over again. Im not saying the guy is not smart or right he just does not seem very tolerant. Which in the way I view things people who are not tolerant are like animals and less evolved.

WTF does tolerance have to do with evolution? I highly doubt being more tolerant gives you an evolutionary advantage. Pretty poor choice of words there, not to mention the blatant hypocrisy of you not being able to tolerate Dawkins' attitude.

Kudos to Dawkins for having the balls to tell it like it is.

Zero Punctuation: Brütal Legend
>> ^PHJF:

Yeah requiring the player to use some brain cells is really lame isn't it?

It's more like trying to combine every object in your inventory with every other object until something ends up clicking.
Anyways, totally agree with Yahtzee on this one. Fucking hate sandbox games. Repetitively scattered content bores me to tears. Haven't enjoyed a Schafer game since Grim Fandango.
